E-Week

My e-week class was amazingly awesome! I took world foods with Mr Johnson, who is a charachter in his self. A little overview is next. On wednesday we rode the short bus over to Fort Collins. There we shopped at Safeway, went on a tour of sprouts(an organic food store), visited a pumpkin patch, ate lunch at Rasta Pasta-that was pretty awesome. My friend and I, Alex Zenk, ate the hottest dish on the menu. It was nearly unbearable. We got our picture on the "Wall of Flame". You only got on the wall if you finished off the whole dish, it had an extreme amount of habeneros on it ontop of all the kick it already had. On Thursday we cooked all sorts of yummy dishes. On Monday we did more cooking and had an awesome day cooking at Ellie Sicks house, aka the principals house. On Tuesday we made two dishes then we split into 4 groups and had an intense cook off. My team of freshman Isaac Reinert and Drew Coggswell, along with fellow sophmore Brandon Thaxton thought we were gonna get dead last but ended up getting 2nd. Our dish was Shrimp, oinon, red bell peppers, and pineapple. We also made a smoothie. We were planning to put chorizo on the kabobs but Mr Zenk cranked up the grill and it got torched=(. It was one of the most amazing weeks of high school so far. In the photo on the right we are grilling our kabobs on the grill; at the bottom of the picture you can view the grilled chorizo laying on the grate. I like the picture because you can see the flames and smoke coming off the grill. It isnt that clear but I like the overall setting of it. In the photo on the left Alex Zenk and Jared Breay are preparing their triangular burgers for the grill. Thier group took everyone by surprise and took first place. This photo is pretty much an action shot of all the chaos of the cook off.

Sports has pretty much been my life for as long as I can remember!! In my life I have played hockey, soccer, basketball, football, baseball, tennis, and track. My favorite continue to be basketball, tennis and track. These 3 happen to be the ones I still play in high school. I have no idea have no idea what my life would be like if I did not have sports practices and games nearly everyday after school. Although some people might think, "oh that is really boring". I think of what their life must be like without sports, but yes I do understand not everybody is meant to play sports. Sports have made me into the person I am today. Now I am able to do things under pressure, keep my cool, and multi-task all with out crumbling under pressure or stress. This is my life and I couldn't imagine myself without my sports and the experiences that come along with it.

My two favorite photos are as follows:

1) I like how the feather is just lying in the dark green grass. Aside from that I think I definitely would've gotten better resolution so it was more clear. Details on the grass are visible but I think I would've done a better job focusing on the feather, because it is the subject in the photo. The back ground is pretty blurry and unclear so I probably should have focused on a little more of everything in the photo for it seems as if the grass is the clearest part of the photo while I was trying to focus on the feather.

2) This second photo of a small sunflower I really like but I would've done better on it.....I possibly could have you used a flash because the overall clarity of the photo is somewhat poor. Another thing that would've factored into that would be the aperture and shutter speed I had because it was a fairly windy day and that would have cleared things up. A flash also would've helped with how dark the the background is so the colors on the sun flower would've been clearer which would've led to better color. The brush in the background is fairly blurry. Yes my subject is the sunflower but having the weeds in better focus would have improved the overall quality of the photo.
